Hello, friend.
This week I’ve been thinking about unfinished things. The document with a promising opening. The project that needs one more decision. The idea that keeps returning when I take a walk.
It’s easy to treat all of them as evidence that we’re behind. But some things are unfinished because they are still becoming clear.
A gentler kind of progress
I’m trying to distinguish between avoiding a decision and giving an idea room to develop. They can look similar from the outside. One feels like going in circles; the other produces a new question.
A useful practice: leave a note for your future self before stopping. What did you learn? What is the next small step? What can wait?
Something to try
Pick one unfinished thing. Don’t promise to complete it today. Spend twenty minutes making the next step clearer.
Sometimes that is enough to begin again.
Until next time,
